Before the checklist — what draws you to it? The responsibility, or the recognition? Both are fine answers, they just need different preparation.

The responsibility, I think. I like it when a shift runs well because of something I set up.

Then you're already doing the work. Finish the training track, lead two briefings, and start noticing who on your shift needs help before they ask. That last one is the whole job.
